Osoyoos Lake — Canada's Warmest Freshwater Lake

Osoyoos Lake runs approximately 14 kilometres north to south, straddling the Canada-US border, with a maximum width of about 2 kilometres. Summer water temperatures average 24°C in July and August — the warmest of any lake in Canada — which supports exceptional bass fishing, comfortable swimming from May through October, and one of the highest concentrations of watersports activity in interior BC. The lake is divided into a larger north basin and a smaller south basin by Haynes Point Provincial Park, connected by a dredged channel at the narrows. Boaters should slow nearly to a stop when transiting between the buoys — the water outside the channel is often knee-deep or less. Crossing the US border by boat requires an I-68 permit and customs clearance at Starlite Marina on return.
